Center Thanks Ann Munier, Celebrating 5 Years of Service as Community Outreach Coordinator!

The Center would like to congratulate Ann Munier, who recently celebrated her nine-year anniversary as Community Outreach Coordinator. Thank you for all of your hard work, Ann!

Ann works hard to build community awareness about the Center’s audiology testing and speech/language therapy services for individuals of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay.

Ann is always on the go, making frequent presentations on hearing loss and hearing aids for a variety of interested groups and organizations in the metro area. She attends 47 health fairs each year, often where the Center provides no-cost hearing screenings. Ann participates in Center speech and language screenings at 114 St. Louis schools and preschools, as well as full speech and language evaluations and therapy for many daycare facilities and Headstart programs.

Ann says she really enjoys meeting new people and spreading the word about the Center’s subsidized services. “Many times, I’ll meet someone who says they can’t afford hearing or speech services because it’s too expensive. That means they are doing without something they really need. The biggest obstacle to care is always cost. So I tell them to apply for the Center’s financial scholarship. We qualify them for assistance before they receive service. It’s nice to be able to tell people that they don’t have to go without a service that can be of benefit to them.”

In her free time, Ann enjoys vacationing where she can walk the beach. She loves reading nonfiction and watching science fiction and drama movies.

If you’d like Ann to make a presentation about hearing loss for your school or group, or would like to schedule the Center’s participation in an upcoming St. Louis area health fair, call her at (314) 968-4710.

The Center for Hearing & Speech is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that donates $1.75 million in speech/language and audiology services each year to residents of metropolitan St. Louis. CHS improves the quality of life for individuals with hearing and speech disorders by providing caring and high quality services, regardless of one’s ability to pay. The Center continually strives to address a greater portion of the unmet need relating to speech and audiology in the St. Louis region. It is a proud member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the Better Business Bureau.
