Center Team Participates in St. Louis Walk4Hearing

Center's Gina Cato, Rita Tintera, Ann Joseph & Dr. Kate Sinks joined the St. Louis Walk4Hearing to support the Hearing Loss Association of America.

A team of Center staff and supporters joined the St. Louis Walk4Hearing at last Saturday’s 5K walk in Queeny Park. Development Department director, Jeff Tarr, was the Center’s Team Captain.

The St. Louis Walk4Hearing event is hosted each year by the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA). It is the largest walk of its kind, taking place in multiple cities across the country. Every spring and fall, thousands of walkers—children and their families, young adults, the young at heart and everyone in between—form teams and walk in their communities to increase public awareness about hearing loss, help eradicate the stigma associated with it, and raise funds for hearing programs and services.

Since 2006, more than 58,000 walkers have stepped up and helped raise more than $9 million for programs and services for people with hearing loss and their families. Money raised is shared between the national organization and local Walk sites.
The Center for Hearing & Speech is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that donates $1.75 million in speech/language and audiology services each year to residents of metropolitan St. Louis. CHS improves the quality of life for individuals with hearing and speech disorders by providing caring and high quality services, regardless of one’s ability to pay. The Center continually strives to address a greater portion of the unmet need relating to speech and audiology in the St. Louis region. It is a proud member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the Better Business Bureau.
